Healthy House Pocket Sprung Mattress

  • An economical alternative to an organic pocket sprung mattress
  • Oeko-tex Standard 100 cotton cover
  • No chemical fire retardants on the filling
  • Please allow 2 - 3 weeks for delivery

We are pleased to re-introduce our medium firm pocket sprung mattress. It has 1000 springs in individual pockets in the double size mattress. This gives good even support over the whole mattress and greatly reduces the transfer of movement across the bed and the sag which can be caused by a heavier person on one side.

The mattress is constructed using the pocketed springs, a layer of coir fibre, a layer of cotton and polyester felt and a pure cotton, Oeko-tex Standard 100 cover. The 50% polyester and 50% cotton wadding is known as ‘rebound’ because of its ability to return to its original shape. The border, handles and tufts are all cotton. There are brass vents on the sides to allow the mattress to breathe. 5 year guarantee. For chemically sensitive people, we always recommend testing for tolerance. Samples of the various materials will be sent to you upon request.  The delivery charge on each mattress is £35.00.

We have been sleeping on our pocket sprung mattress for about 5 years. It is exceptionally comfortable and despite our different sizes and weights it has worn very well. I am also chemically sensitive and sleep very happily on this mattress. However, we recommend that samples are tested before ordering as sensitivities are so individual. Maxima Skelton

FAQs

Should I purchase a very firm bed to ease my back pain?
You need a new bed, which offers the right support for you as an individual.

I have a bought a slatted bed base and would like a mattress to go on it, Are your  mattresses suitable?
Yes. All our mattresses are suitable for slatted bases. We would recommend however that there is no more than a 3" gap between the slats.

How do I know what size bed is best for me?
The largest bed you can afford is best. Larger beds are more comfortable especially if you are sharing as you are less likely to disturb each.

Can you make me a non-standard size?

Yes, the mattresses are bespoke and therefore can be made in various sizes. We would need to know your requirements before giving you a price on a special size mattress.

Do your mattresses comply with British Standards fire regulations?
Yes. By law, all mattresses sold in the U.K. must comply with British Standards fire regulations. The cotton cover on our  sprung mattress has the Oeko-tex  Standard 100 accreditation which confirms that it is free from harmful substances. The polyester and cotton filling in the pocket sprung mattress is naturally fire retardant.

Do I need to turn my mattress?
We recommend that all mattresses be turned regularly to ensure even wear and tear.

The pocket sprung mattresses I have looked at seem lumpy. Does this mean there is something wrong?
Categorically, no. Luxury pocketed beds do not have an even surface. They mould to your body’s contours and the indentations will remain apparent even when the mattress is turned. This is not a fault.

Why should I choose a mattress sold by the Healthy House?
The mattresses made for us in Manchester are made specifically for The Healthy House using the Oeko-tex cotton cover and various fillings stated above. The company has been established since 1927. During this time an unparalleled knowledge has been built up regarding the most suitable materials and manufacturing techniques, to employ for a particular product. All materials used are of the highest quality and each product is individually handcrafted using time-honoured skills that British Craftsmanship represents. It is based largely on the quality and benefits experienced by the end users of these mattresses that a proud reputation has been earned.

What is the difference between the Organic Mattresses and The Healthy House Sprung and Pocket Sprung Mattresses?
The organic mattresses are made in Wales using certified organic materials that have never been exposed to chemical treatments. We realize that not all our customers are in a position to purchase an organic mattress which is why we offer these other ranges as a less expensive alternative.
